Early Childhood Services and Programs Overview

PARENTS AS TEACHERS
- Ages: Prenatal to Kindergarten Entry
- No Charge - Parkway Residents Only
- Personal Family Visits with a trained Parkway Parent Educator who shares developmental information and age-appropriate activities with parents and guardians.
- Group Connections, including FREE Family Activity and Just for Parents sessions
- Developmental Screenings to check your child’s hearing, vision & developmental milestones
- Resource Network
PRESCHOOL
- Ages: 3 Years Old by July 31, 2025
- Fee-Based Program - Parkway Residents & Non-Residents
- Full and half-day classes are offered at 8 locations throughout Parkway.
- Play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Teachers are degreed and certified
- Registration begins in February for the following school year
PLAY-BASED DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING
- Ages: 3 - 5 years old
- No Charge - Parkway Residents Only
- Screening in a small group setting assesses skills in:
- Communication
- Motor
- Cognitive Development
- Social & Emotional Development
- Hearing & Vision
- Recommended annually
EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION (ECSE)
- Ages: 3 - 5 Years Old
- No Charge-Parkway Residents Only
- Special education services for eligible children ages 3 through 5 years are offered at several locations in the Parkway School District
PARTNERS IN PLAY (PIP)
- Birth to 5 Years Old (Not in Kindergarten)
- Fee-Based Program - Parkway Residents & Non-Residents Welcome
- Affordable, fun, short-term classes for adults & children to enjoy together
- Strengthen children’s skills through exploration, discovery & creative experiences.
- Classes provide developmental information for parents.
- Some classes are designed for specific ages, & some are "Family Classes" for all children under the age of 5 (not in kindergarten).
KIDS MORNING OUT (KMO)
- Ages: 2 years old, turning 3 years old during the school year.
- Fee-Based Program - Parkway Residents & Non-Residents Welcome
- "KMO" provides a preschool classroom experience to children who missed the preschool cut-off.
- Play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum
- A certified teacher & assistant lead these classes.
- Drop-off program: Children attend without a parent.
- Choice of 1 or 2 mornings/week with 2 District locations
- Registration begins in February for the following school year.
